Dr. Gugger is Ivy league trained at the University of Pennsylvania in Anesthesia where he also completed an additional year of Fellowship training in Pain Medicine. He is Board-Certified and Fellowship-Trained in both Anesthesia and Pain Medicine.
Prior to completing his medical training, Dr. Gugger served honorably in the United States Navy. He first served as a Flight Surgeon, primarily stationed at NAS Willow Grove before it’s closing, and later as the Senior Medical Officer for Forward Operating Base Kalagush while deployed to Afghanistan.
His training and unique past experiences provided him with the techniques, knowledge, and compassion to be an understanding and expert pain medicine physician. Dr. Gugger takes a holistic approach to his practice incorporating the best available techniques, medications, interventions, and imaging to address the unique psychosocial and medical complexities that contribute to his patient’s pain experience.
Dr. Gugger’s areas of interest include cancer pain, spinal pain, neurologic pain conditions, minimally invasive surgeries and procedures for pain relief, the psychologic components of pain and comprehensive medical management. He has a strong affinity for his brothers and sisters who have served at home and abroad and proudly welcomes all veterans to his practice.
